I have a ’97 Cooper MPi & the mount on the rear silencer has gone, so I was gonna replace it with a Play Mini RC40.
because I’ve got a Cat do I need to buy anything else?
I’ve been having a look on Minisport & there’s a few options.
Exhaust - 3" Side Exit - Play Mini - PM40 - with LB CAT link pipe
or
Exhaust - 3" Side Exit - Play Mini - PM40 - with LB silenced CAT link pipe - PM44C
or can I get rid of the Cat? Would this cause me a problem come MOT time on emissions?
Exhaust - 3" Side Exit - Play Mini - PM40 - with LB silenced CAT removal link pipe - PM45
Thanks Guys

Playmini dont make an RC40, Minispares center do
The last three are all options, but you have to decide if you want a mid section silencer and if you are retaining the cat or not
Retaining the cat is recomended, the mid section silencer will quiten down the exhaust some what as does the cat anyway, it will sond normal at idle and when crusing, but with a drone rather than a fart and when you floor it it will growel. It wont be as loud without the mid section or the cat, it is seriously loud without those, and to be honest too much, will catch the ears of the law and your nieghbours. Its up to you

Thanks Sprocket, I leave the cat on but I don't think I'll bother with the extra silencer.

If it's just a hanger that's fallen off, why not put a clamp on one round it and squeeze out some extra miles?

If your ears arent bleeding its not loud enough I have a janspeed LCB along with decat and a stainless steel DTM and i think it gives a great noise

I didn't know you could get those, might be a good temporary fix if I can get away with it.
Do you know where I might get one?
Cheers

any idea how loud one of these are??
Don't know about the twin exit pipes, but I've got a Maniflow system fitted to my Mini and it's fantastic.
I really wouldn't want to fit anything else.
I've heard you can buy them cheaper from Somerford?

Just a word of warning, I fitted a twin exit 3" DTM a number of years back (when I was a lad) and the car ran like a dog (std MPI). It struggled to accelerate and drank fuel. On the plus side it sounded fantastic.
