Has anyone come across anyone running short courses on welding?
1 week or a couple of weekends perhaps.
I've hunted high and low and can't find anything.

Any sugestions appreciated

I don't know about courses that short, probs best bet is to try a mate or someone who can teach you the basics if time is short. I was looking at welding courses today at my local college, and they go on for 10 weeks.

10 weeks of evenings I could live with. All ive managed to find is 20 & 30 week day release.

I was taught at college years ago, so what i'm realy looking for a refresher and a better understanding of the modern kit.

Otherwise im going to have to go with the Oxy torch, but gas is getting expensive these days.

I think they are evening courses, well why don't you go to your local college and see if you can speak to the person who would be teaching it and see if you can just get a few nights refresher?

I went on a classic car restoration course at Bolton college. It was 17 weeks for 2 hours on a Thursday night. Gave me great insight into welding and spraying etc. Shame you are no where near Bolton.

I was on a welding course run by Farnborough tech - 10 weeks, 2 hours in an evening once per week, £230... sadly it got cancelled after just a couple of sessions due to the lecturer being ill, but they are running it again now, I gather.
