yeah, could cure the problem, did with me, i had the stage 1 needle but because i also had a cooper head the stage 1 needle wasn't enough, so i upgraded again and now it runs like a dreaaaaaaaaam
does the cooper head give much more power?
is there much modifications needed to fit one?

I know this sounds stupid but have you taken the spacer off the carb assembly? I had to, to fit my piper-cross air filter. This did cause the accelerator mechanism to catch on the inlet manifold (just another thing to check)
im not sure what spacer u mean, but as far as i know i havent taken anything off.

it happily to the engine. (i.e. needle/manifold etc.,)
But hang on....
Sounds like you are talking about a flat spot in the engine and that will need tuning out when you get a needle anyway so you could
get a slightly sweeter ride now and a good 'practice' for the tuning you will need to do when you do get the needle.
I'd start with really carefully and precisely doing the valve clearances. Take your time over this
and do it right. (i.e very slowly and carefully). Gap the points precisely and run her down to a nice low idle with the carb screw so that when standing
a few feet away with the bonnet off or open the main sound you hear from your engine is a regular and rhythmic "tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick".
Go round the block a few times and get the engine up to temp and see how she pulls.
Go home and do your valves again (they will have moved minutely).
Obviously, before you do any of this look for punctured hoses, bad gaskets etc.,
But, as others have suggested, you probably need a needle and a rolling road to get the most out of it.
by the way - if your exhaust is loud on a 998 you are losing power and speed to the God of showing off.
I prefer being quiet - and first.
Best wishes

also my engine moves because the bushes have gone. am i right these r the right ones to buy?
CLICKY
Yes those are the right bushes, you'll need two sets, one for engine, one for bulkhead.
I tend to buy mine from Mini-Medics though, very helpful and quick.
If you have the wrong needle then you'll be down on power, and running lean, it's only £10, so get one, fit that, and try setting it up again. Then look at rolling road to get the best.
Changing the head will make things worse until you've got the right needle.
Also check oil in your dash pot while you're at it, and your points and ignition system, plug gaps, point wear, how long ago were these last changed or checked? They're regular service items on the A-series, unles the basics are working right any tuning mods are a waste of time and money...

iv only just changed the points and the dashpot has oil in it. guess il need a new needle and a RR session.
