Unfortunately there's very little chance of the car passing the MoT emissions test with a carb. If you change the whole engine for an earlier on (and can prove it) then the emissions test is based on the age of the engine rather than the car. If you leave the MPi engine in you will have to pass the cat test.

Why do you want to change to a carb?

it never had a carb in the first place :shifty:

Its a complete mine field in all honesty. Ive not heard of anyone doing this on an MPi just retaining the ignition, but thats pretty much what you would have to do, as the block has no distributer.

And as said earlier, you'll find it difficult to get it through the MPi Emissions test, especialy if you remove the cat

You don't have a dizzy on the mpi block so it would be a difficult conversion, but if possible you would pass the emission test no problem.

have found out if you get the block skimmed it get rid of the engine number you can just put old engine number on it andput carb on and declare as that engine, mot people dont mind this, and yeah megajolt is the way to go,and the reason is to tune tune an mpi block but be on carbs so reatain dzzyless ingnition and have more power through carb and neatness of mpi engine.only other problem is the flywheel.you can convert but is alittle expensive as have to change clutch master other than that pretty straight forward.hope this helps a lttle bit to clear up some of the things in my first post.
