Hi,

I am fitting a new radiator in the mini and was thinking of replacing the hoses for silicon ones.

Are they really worth £70, or not really?

Thanks

Jon

Snap!

Same situation, same dilemma, I was advised that the silicon hoses from mini spares are basically the dogs dangley bits and this was from an engine builder.

Placing my order soon, and yes they are worth the money, had silicon hoses before on last car (turbo) and they worked spot on. I'm guessing your looking at the mini spares kit aswell?

And your engine bay will look much much better aswell so thumbs up all round!

:)

I was so impressed by the different articles i read i got a set for my mini, however fitting them had it's difficulties?
Some hoses were very tight so i used WD40 to help get them on, be carefull not to overtighten your clips (i asked for a full set of jubilee clips to be sent with my order) and finally the small pipe from the bottom radiator hose and the heater hose that normaly fit together with the metal pipe on my silicon hoses were different sizes so i had to hunt around for a fitting to suit, Also you can't put sharp bends in the hoses as they kink very easily so i ended up re-routing my hoses to allow for this.
Definately glad i fitted them though as they make the engine by look better, they seem to sit better in the engine bay and if they are as good as they say will never have to touch them again?????

the silicone hoses kit i have are from mini spares and they are brill only problem i have had is one touched the manifold and melted but that my own fault cant expect it to cope with manifold temperatures :) i used to have kevlar hoses and they are bad after 1 month i snapped the bottom hose where the leg is (could be a one off)

because of a water called turbo i needed extra strate hose
i used a company in essex called Anglia Hose & Hydraulics

http://www.angliahos....uk/index2.html

good price and very helpfull (also do intercooler piping)

I have the bottom hose from SC very good and a great price plus they do black which IMO looks better, esp on an older car.
