hi guys, im looking for the best possible stone chip guard to spray before final paintwork on the bottom panels of my mini. i have used waxoyl underseal in the past and found it horrible to use. I am looking for something that will dry with a really tough rubbery finish or solid finish depending on what is best. i would like a bumpy/ripple effect in what ever i am using as the panels that it will go on have had some work on and need a little disquising.
Any suggestions, cheers
dan

Hi Dan, To get what your looking for, you'd be better using what is classed as a sprayable sealant. There are quite few on the market that will all more or less do the same job, the only problem is that you need a special gun to spray the sealant which normally comes in a tube which resembles a tube of silicon. If you can find an automotive paint supplier, they will have something that will do your job. Anything made by the "Wurth" group is excellent but its pricey. A tube of this will set you back about a tenner at trade price but it will replicate the original sealant and is excellent for the inner wheel arch area, the back valance closer sections etc. The alternative would be to take the car to a paint shop as they should have this gun and it wont take long to do it.

I used Hammerite Stone Chip Shield along the bottom of my doors. Easy to spray on and the finish is exactly how you describe. I chose not to paint over so it just looks like a black stripe along the bottom.
