sounds like a good idea to me but the problem is with most things in the world is that every one wants to go on the runs but no one wants to be the one to set them up as there is a lot of prep work and stress built in to the job but im one of thos who would just go on the run lol

You also seem to be forgetting the actual 'Gumball 3000' which is international, was set up by an Englishman and usually starts in Britain, or at least comes here on the route. It's only rarely that that the rally doesn't come to Britain at some point. Being 3000 miles long though and run as a commemoration of the fastest coast to coast crossing of the US on a motorbike it's pretty tricky to do the whole thing in Britain.
The Lands End to John O'Groats classic endurance rally is called LeJog and is run by the HERO Organisation, usually in December. HERO run many endurance rallies (strange, since they are called The Historic Endurance Rallying Organisation) and they tend to be a good laugh.
There are plenty of Mini endurance rallies going on all the time. There's also the London to Brighton and our own BH2N run that are similar.
So there's lots you can do if you want.

Can you imagine the english gumballish one?
Supercars getting grounded on speed humps
Everyone getting zapped by speed cameras EVERYWHERE
Everyone getting nowhere fast if one of the meet points is anywhere near London
Weather being blinding
Competitors trying to find a road where they can take it safely to over 200mph........
Competitors getting parking tickets sitting in a traffic jam!
Competitors replacing their suspension at every stop as our roads are sooooo smooth
And probably getting the Health and Safety brigade on their backs at the finish lines.
Plus side is we have some nice views, and thats it.

I spoke to a guy today who has just got back from this years gumball 3000.
It was San Fransico to Vegas - via some where elese -I was listening that much as I was stunned. He works for some Range Rover development business and they took 5 custom Rangies including the new 2 door prototype.
It didnt really finish in Vegas - from Vegas they flew to Hong kong - and the race actually finished in Bejing the day before the Olympics started - with a drive aound the Birds nest Stadium.
Ohhh - how I can dream......
