I've been given an A+ gearbox to clean up and use but I would like to know the diff ratio if possible.

The markings are:

A/BZ3 with BC underneath

and DAM 5626

I know it came out of a metro but the friend who broke it (a while ago) can't remember what model metro it was.

Any ideas? I've tried Guesswork's pages but I can't find a ref for it.....

if the gearbox is off the block which it sounds like it is. put a small white mark on the crownwheel at the bag of gearbox and count the teeth it has as u turn it round till the white mark. do the same on the pinion and divide the large number by the small number of teeth that is your ratio

I'm pretty sure those are the same markings on the gearbox of my 1990 Mainstream Mini Cooper and that has a 3.1 final drive.

Yes just checked and that is exactly what's written on my gearbox casing.
