Someone has either taken... or i have lost the key to my fuel filler cap. I rang MiniSport just to ask what i could do they said the only thing i can do is buy a new fuel filler cap (not a problem) but now i have to run the car around until the tank is as close to empty as possible... then break the cap off? without damaging the petrol tank neck? then fit the new one :S:S:S
I have no idea what im doing and im meant to be doing a long journey next week and cant fill up!!
its also got one of the aston style things on it but im not worried about that ive ordered just a normal genuine cap that doesnt have that.
Is there any other way other than the one above that they told me? If not do it literally just break it off? :S really stuck with this!!!
Cheers
Mike

Could try to fiddle it with a flathead screwdriver, but just make sure noone is watching you do it.
If the lock opens but wont go back it wont matter if you have a new one on the way, but dont try it until you got the replacement.

Get a strong reasonably thin flathead screwy and hammer it into the lock. Then get some stilsons and twist the screwy anticlockwise. It should bust the lock internals whch aren't up to much. You should be able to reuse the cap though it won't lock.
Aston style? Not sure exactly what that entails, but have you tried just pulling the whole thing off the filler neck?

on the aston cap there should be 3 little grub screws dotted around the side you'll need an allen key (not sure what size) and once the original cap is off it just slides off.

Didnt do it any of the ways above...
Used the screwdriver to lever the cap until it eventually just broke the crappy plastic lock bits inside. New one was delivered as it came off

Job Done, Cheers guys for the help!
