Hi guys and gals,

Ive been away for a while due to business. And I have just brought a new car so we can get the mini off the road and restored for next year. Whilst running it for the last few weeks its not been perfect ive put this down to the bad weather but its dy now and its still not good.

When driving the engine is miss firing! kinda of cutting out and the restarting. It doesnt do it at any particular speed or time on underload jsut whenever it feels like it.

If you dont know its a 998 auto had a similar proble to this problem before and changing the points sorted it but not this time. Weve ran out of ideas! HELP

so far we have :

-changed points, spark plugs, HT leads, checked fuel pump (removed the leaded pipe that claims to make petrol leaded), replaced tube and added a new coil pack!! any more ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Holly

Might be worth popping the float chamber open and checking that the float is free to move and that the needle valve isn't gummed up, this can often cause irregular cut outs and odd behaviour.

I could be a loose wire or poor connection in the ignition wiring. A rev counter would show it up if there is one.

mine started doing that on bh2n... and its was popping massively on overrun... turns out the manifold nuts where loose, so i'd try that, or replace the gasket.

ha we found the problem!!!

Started up this morning of tottled up the road fine got to a junction and stalled wouldnt start. An angry que of traffic behind me i manged to make it move a metre out of the way. RAC man took hour and a half to arrive but was a really nice chap- then mo seea y daddy turned up to help ^_^ got out the car to see a lovely puddle of petrol.

I think a fuel pipe must have had a whole in it that why it was popping and it completely split today! the RAC man managed to tow me all 1/2 mile home and weve drained all the petrol only had to last 2 more days on the road before restoration guess its tired!
