Hey all,

I am trying to remove the crank pulley on a 1998 mpi but am having a few problems. Tried levering it off with large spanners but no luck. I understand its possible to get pulley removers but i'm concerned about clearance.

If anyone has used a specific pulley remover tool with good results could you let me know which one please? Any other methods of removing it would also be appreciated.

Thanks :P

Yeah I did think about that but a) I dont want to damage the pulley and b) I dont want to damage the timing chain cover...

I presume you had no problems with yours though? Also I understand the newer pulleys have built in balancers - where is this situated and is there anything I need to do to ensure I don't damage it?

Damage, or not damaging seems to be the key theme here :ermm: Thanks for your help.

You will need:

1 x Copper Mallet
1 x Leaver device (large screw driver or sorts

and plenty of bashing and leavering as you bash it will come off then!

and the copper mallet helps not destroy the pulley!
