Just want to rant basically about those people who do not tell the complete truth on ebay!

I bought a wide slat cooper grill off ebay, 17 Aug, its only just arrived today, some 2 weeks later and it was described as :

'Mini/Cooper MK1/2/3 Grill (wide slat)

Not sure if it's stainless but it seems heavy. Rear panels need sanding (surface rust) and repainting.'

Well...where to start, it sounds in pretty good nick, the picture does it justice.
However its not only the back thats peeling, the fronts got the same problem too.
The slats rivets which hold them to the back plates at either end are pretty much non existent, so they're only held in the middle, a couple of the slats are also bent.

Not exactly as described i'd say....and while i cut drill out all the rivets repaint the ends and re-rivet them, for the money i could have bought a brand new one! ARGH.

Will see if the seller gets back to me but they dont seem very good at the communication side of things, i'd rather just have a refund, but i'll wait till they give it to me before i post it out, otherwise i'll be waiting two weeks to see my money again!

Anyone else had any stories of ebay they would like to share?

I bought a Clubman front bumper described as "good condition, suitable for rechroming" looked okay in the rather small pic. Sounded perfect as I was going to paint it anyway.

What arrived was utter, utter, utter ....... well I've thrown away better. It was bent in every direction, and twisted, the brackets were totally out of shape, and so rusty they would have broken off if I'd tried to straighten them ^_^ :mrcool: >_<

The postage being nearly as much as the cost of it made no point in returning it as I would have got about £1 back on it.

mk1's and mk3's would have different grilles so it can't fit both? which is it?

If it was advertised as a grill (sic) you're lucky you didn't get a George Foreman or a barbecue. ^_^

(sorry, I'm not much help)

I wouldn't ever even bother with a second hand grille, they're cheap enough new anyways.

But yeah, it's annoying when people bugger up their descriptions on eeeebay.

I sold a grille/grill on ebay a while back ^_^ (wasn't me!)

Anyway it left me pretty good condition and got there a total mess due to Royal mail. I complained with photos of what it was like before I sent it and the packaging I used and got enough money to refund the guy in full and make more back than I sold it for!

by the way I had that grille straightened (due to spotlights pushing on it) and there is no point . Just buy a new one.

£60 odd quid isnt cheap, but i see now why it is worth it!
You just sometimes get as-near-as new things on ebay that are worth saving that tenner over, this was not one of them!

not mini related but still...

i bought a painting on ebay once, it took 3 months! yes 3 months! for the seller to post it out! and when it eventually arrived it had been packaged so badly it had been bent in half and completely ruined! seller wasnt prepared to do anything about it, claiming it wasnt her fault....

I recently sold a car item on Ebay, the guy wasnt happy with the fixings on it so I gave him a refund. I treat people the way I want to be treated, if I bought something from Ebay I wasnt happy with, id be fuming if I didnt get a refund. The buyer didnt want to see me out of pocket so he didnt ask for the postage cost back. There are some good people out there.
