Model: Mini 1000
Year: 1977
Description of problem (please be as in depth as possible): Right, well every time i put my foot down on the clutch i can hear a grinding noise? what does this mean? new clutch?

i suppose your trying to change gear at the same time..so is it the gears crunching.
Try putting the car in neutral, and putting clutch down..is the noise still there.

it doesn't only happen when going into gear, i have put it in neutral and pressed the clutch, still the noise occurs

Can be, you basically have to strip it as if you were changing the clutch, but you dont need to remove the flywheel. Its the bearing on the clutch cover.

sounds ok do to, i want to get it done asap, i dont fancy working on the car in winter! today was bad enough, are the any more suggestions?

does anyone know the part i will need? do i need to know what sort of clutch ive got? if so how do i tell

Is your clutch arm long or short?

EDIT: 1977 would be pre-verto type. but just confirm the length of the arm.

Does it still drive fine and change gear fine? If so, are you sure its not the actual pedal or mechanism making the noise? Just a susggestion

yeah still drives fine gear change is all ok, how its always been its a rotational grind, HARBER07 how do i check the arm length?
