
Painting The Gutter

if this is silly, whats the best technique to use regarding the primer?

The hardest bit to paint on the gutter is the folded edge of the seam,... which is covered by the roof trim anyway,.. so why not do things the other way round,... Paint the car up and then once it's all done, blat around the hard to get areas with the brush and hammerite (or the proper paint thinned down),.. then pop your trim on.

paint in the gutter then spray the rest of the roof and gutter to finish it off

i havent got the trim (its a 71 mk3 with the gutter extensions on each side). its onlly the gutters im doing as they are flakey. is there such thing as brush on primer?Hammerite is silicone based,.. as long as you can find a paint that will lay over it nicely and not react then it's a good idea.

Yeah you can buy brush on primer. Theres anti rust, normal grey and high build availible in brushable form from halfords.
