You have fitted the solid tower mounts upside down,.. the top one is correct but the one pictured needs to be put the other way up. The inside of the mount is profiled to sit flush on the subframe, and the bottom of the bulkhead crossmember hole is fluted to accept the mount.

This is dangerous.

Also,

forgot to ask but would it be better if the mount sat flush with the top of the turret?

Here is a quick snapshot of some of the minis outside the front of where i work,

Posted Image

The second from right is a shorty we have built that actually has working doors, which i personally havent seen any of before.

Soon i should be putting together a topic thread to show the business and the abilities we have and what we have done so far.

i also have upgraded damper top mounts for the front as suggested by minispares along with new stronger bottom bolts, for lowered cars!

This is the roof after we have made the plate up, we then used some filler to shape which we need to rub down and smooth off

here is the rear valance

Posted Image

i removed the rear subframe and rebuilt it. The bearings and the radius arm had already been replaced.
So i installed my negative camber brackets and rebuilt the rear brakes with my new EBC Rebuild and upgrade kit and new spax krypton adjustables.

Posted Image

Here is the engine before and after

Posted Image Posted Image

I decided to re paint it in red after i had done the engine bay in black.

okay so all the rear subfame is on the car and the brakes are connected.

After i fiddled with the suspension for about an hour i managed to get the car looking like this...

Posted Image

and

Posted Image

This was with the 12x4.5 minilights which are not going to be on the car, as i have 13x7 alleycats.

The next step is to put on the front wings which i hope should get done by my boss in this next week while i am away...

Then its fitting the new wheels and modifying the wings

Undersealing all the wings

Fitting the rest of the new parts on the front end (negative camber, new dampers and adustable tie rods.

Since my last post the mini has been starting to look more like a mini.

I had the engine up and running for a little while just to make sure it still goes and installed all the other bits and bobs in the engine bay.

I Have also rebuilt all the front hubs replacing the bearings and ball joints and installed them with the new vented disc brakes.

Along with rebuilding the front hubs i have also installed all the new front spax dampers, adjustable tie rods and negative camber bottom arms.

Posted Image

Next up the front end was replaced and re fitted so now it looks like a mini again!

Both doors have been fitted and all panels/major body work is done.

Left to do on the body now is to cut the arches for the 13x7 alleycats and rub down to prep up for primer.

Today i took one of the wheels to the workshop to give me an idea of how much i will need to adjust by and how i will fit my wheel arches.

Before i took it to the workshop i gave it a mega polish to give it a bit of protection... Mega shinnyyyyy

Posted Image

I did however feel safer with a bit of extra safety!
Can you blame me? haha

Posted Image

However i came accross a bit of an issue, where the wheels are turned on full lock they will catch on the front panel just under where it meets the wing. I can take this off which isnt a problem as we have done this many times before on other cars, but the miglia arches will not cover it so it may look a bit messy so i need to decide on what to do with arches.

I also tried one of the spare mk1 grilles we have just to get some sort of idea of what it would look like.

Posted Image

The one i am going for is a morris cooper which will not be wavey but should still give a nice mean look i hope haha.

i have also been fiddling with two different rear light set ups...

Posted Image

There is not much of a difference between the two lights, the top ones on the left were clear lenses that have been smoked the ones on the right were original top lenses that had been smoked.

I took this to compare the two pairs of the lenses...

any opinions?

I am personally looking towards the left lenses being the preferred ones to be honest!

I know the exhaust is off to one side with me leaning off to one side it was a bit hard balancing on one leg to get both the lights in haha

I have decided to go for sportspack arches as i didnt like where the miglia ones finished. I have offered my arches up for swaps but havent had much luck so far.

Will be most likely buying a new set of fiberglass arches from bingley at the end of hte month and will sell my miglia ones.

I am also going to get a set of fiberglass side skirts for the car as well to go with the arches but due to funds i think these will have to wait.

The car is all ready to prep for spraying apart from these arches which is the only thing that is holding me back now.
Unfortunately february brings a lot of money outgoings for me, Partners 21st, Valentines, and Mums birthday, not to mention car insurance, phone bills and everything so money for the mini is tight at the moment.

So there might be some bits i have up for sale soon!

iv decided to swap the exhaust with a different one which my boss had lying around and i will update pictures soon

after a long drive up to staffordshire i brought back a new set of fiberglass quality sportspack arches and some heavy duty adjustable tie bars and some new wing mirrors; the bigger jaguar style ones which for 35quid were quite a good buy.

This means i will need to sell some of my other bits so i can have money again lol.
Byebye: old steering wheels, 1.5 degree fixed negative camber bottom arms, the old exhaust and probably some other bits along the way haha

now it means i can crack on and cut the wings to allow to get full lock on the wheels and to get prepped ready for my boss to spray it. I didnt fancy it myself altho i do want to spray my bonnet to give it a go lol.

So once this is done i will update more pictures!
