i quite like the look of orangesquash,can any one give me some advise and tips on roof chopping a mini,im looking at going 5"lowere on the roof height ,ive got about14month before im 17 so ive got a bit of time ,if my dad would hurry up and make some space in the garage,i can make a start on it ..thanks for any tips

Think carefully how low you plan to go with the roof. The lower you go the harder it gets.

As the roof moves down it needs to get longer and wider because of the rake of the pillars.

The best way Ive seen this done is to section the roof into 4 and use another roof for pieces to cut from and weld in.

The door frames will also need cutting to suit the new door appeture shape. Im not sure if the windows need cutting or you can get away with the standard shape of glass.

After you have everything welded up, expect many many weeks of filling, sanding and sore hands. If you've never done bodywork, good luck.

Also have to sort out a windscreen. The rear window can legally be made from plastic, as can the side windows.. but the windscreen has to remain laminated as far as I know and glass cutting is very, very tricky.
