I've got a few new panels on my car that need spraying. I've read somewhere on here that the black primer on them is no good so I've set about stripping it back to etch prime. I used thinners on the front panel and it all came off okay back to bare metal. But on the wing the stuff will not come off - should I just etch prime over it?
Cheers :D

Some of it will wipe off with thinners, thats the stuff you need to totally strip off otherwise you can get problems later on.

The stuff that sticks well and doesnt come off with thinners is okay. It needs keying for primer though. I tend to use 320 on a DA (or by hand if you can be bothered!) then a red scotch brite for all the nooks and crannys.

Dont worry if you rub through to bare metal anywhere, but ideally its wise to etch prime any bare areas. Etch shouldnt need rubbing down or messing with before being surfaced primed.

Hope that helps.
