I dont want this to turn into a 'how big is your d!ck' thread, with people replying saying they get a 4second 0-60 with a k'n'N on a 998!
I really want to know what sort of 0-60 times you guys get on what engines pushing what sort of power as I am used to 205's with 130bhp doing around 7sec 0-60 but a dare say if you had 130bhp in a mini it would be a tad quicker than 7 seconds! am I right?
Thanks in advance for input

all depends on gearing to be honest dude.

I was getting 7 seconds to 60mph running 120bhp with a 3.44 diff, then next season i swapped to a 3.1 diff but with 135bhp and was still getting 7 seconds to 60. both calculated off my 1/4 times which were 15.5 seconds each year.

The last engine was running 160hp still with a 3.1 but i never got to test it, i'd guesstimate it around 6 seconds though, swapping back to a 3.44 for next season and with a bit more power too.

Unfortunately you will never get an accurate answer. For example, I know that my car has quicker acceleration than a Miglia racer (going on 1/4 mile times). Its claimed that Migs do a sub 4 second 0-60, that would mean my 0-60 is around 3 seconds?, I dont believe that at all, neither would anyone else.

i thought it was torque that gave you good acceleration, not BHP ????

to quote Keith Calver from this months mini magazine...

what you need for a fun road car is torque, not horsepower. Torque accelerates the car, horsepower gives it its top speed.

if that's true, your having a pointless conversation

another piece of mini mag *rubbish*...

top fuel dragsters obviously only have 8000bhp for fun, and just use the torque to get down the strip

you need both.

Last time I tried using the very scientific method of stop watch and watching my speedo, I got an average from 3 runs of about 19 seconds! It was damp, and that was on a completely standard 998. Which was what I was expecting really, as the brochure states it should take 16.5 seconds.

Edit: Although, I'm going to Slark to get my new engine bits set up properly on Friday so hopefully it should be a bit faster and importantly more fun to drive!

If you have very very little weight I should think that you would need less torque and more horsepower. Am I right?

Horsepower is only torque x revs and a gearbox will alter the engine speed in relation to the road speed.
