My engines out so I cant compare as I've also got the same Hif38 carb, but I swear it had all three pipes hooked up?

This is from my mates clubby,

Its a Hif38 stage one on a 1098 clubman, it runs but I reckon its well underpowered, on mine I'm sure all three pipes were connected.

On above is the left one the fuel feed and right one bypass? So whats the one thats not connected top left?

>_<

This is a recent picture of my Minis HIF44 carb and I believe the one you have missing is for the crankcase breather?: -

The one I'm pressing my finger down on (because mine's split) is for the fuel over-flow pipe.

There is only two large pipes attached, The same one your pressing is the one thats not on there, this dont sound good!

If its the fuel over flow so that means that fuel is peeing out on the bay?

Well the overflow (if thats what it is) is only used to palm off excess fuel which there shouldn't be normally?

It's the fuel overflow you are missing. Won't affect your performance but needs connecting as a safety feature and piping to the floor away from the hot exhaust.

Has the engine been fully serviced and set up ? If not then thats probably why it is not running as it should.

Well I might be wrong, but it looks like your fuel overpipe is connected. it's the one connected to the metal pipe?

I'd say it's the breather pipe that runs to the crankcase breather that's missing from your carb.

It does need to go on the rollers but came across this whilst being nosey.

The lower one that is connected in the metal pipe is the fuel feed, the one directly above aint, so over flow sounds right.

The crank breather is also connected thats the larger one at the bottom of the pic.

Yep as mini_kel says in the very first pic the one not connected is indeed the fuel overflow pipe!

So try blocking it with something and then see how it runs?

If it improves, then it's probably for the breather pipe.
