how would define ska and reggae are they the one and the same or is there a clear difference
just listening to the massive reggae album and thinking i would call some of this ska?????????

imho i would say if its quick and got lots of brass its ska, and if its chilled and slow with minimal instrumentation it could be reggae, but this is pigeonholeing music to the nth degree. of course there is reggae /ska records that cant be defined, just like blues rock, hip hop, DnB, house, electro house etc etc, its all music and there are no rules

Oooo thats a tough one, a lot of reggae came from 1st wave ska, but slowed down...but then 2nd wave was also due to reaggae in a way!
I'd say that they can't fully be split (in my opinion) as they intertwine during the years...Obviously 3rd wave stuff is a lot diffferent to the earlier stuff, but i'm guessing you mean stuff like toots and the maytals and earlier stuff!

haha my friend loves ska. does does nickh_16, when i listen to it it just makes me laugh
havnt a clue why
