Seam Sealer Cracking?

im retroing a mini van 1979 (1 of 12 minis lucky me :P )... in need of a couple of sills and a d/s floor.... im using tetrosyl seam sealer.......and to my mind its not alot of good.... it always seams to crak when its dries?
anyone had thos problem before?
maby a different type is in order ?
any suggestion welcome

If i was you i would defonately try a different brand as its not going to be doing its job if its cracking, in its dry state it should still have a flax in it, so if its cracking then its not going to be doing its job and will just trap water...

Try 'Silkaflex' or 'Tigerseal'

You can also get it for brush application that comes in a paint tin.

The brushable Grey stripe seam sealer does the same :P

I had this problem with seam sealer.. the same make as your using. It appeared as if it was reacting to the primer as we tried it on a bit that hadnt been primed and seamed to be fine.

carnt beat tiger seal nearly 8 quid a tube but its the best you can buy
and does the job very well and is also over paintable

No seam sealer should crack, even the cheap stuff. You must be doing something wrong or using non compatible materials. Always make sure any coatings under where it is applied are completely dry, and that the sealer is dry before you paint over it.

I bet it was dum dum sealer that was used as it's rubish, use a brushable never had any problems with that

Dum dum isn't rubbish!!! One of the best things ever invented! If anyone uses it as seam sealer though, they are just stupid.

thanks for all your replys! i will definatly go out and spend a small fourtune on some proper stuff...........:) it had to be that make. i did have mirka? stuff before and that never craked.....
oh welll never mind......
also ill post up some pic's of the resto work carryed out so far in the projects section later on( ive got loads of photos)

ive just found a site call frost... they do a dintrol sema sealer in a tube.
anyone used this ?
