Its a snap on wheel balancer, from the early eighties I think. I tested it tonight and it all seems to work, just want rid of the bloody thing now! Fed up of tripping over it. Had a quick look for snap on collectors on google but didnt seem to turn anything up. Anybody got any mates that coollect old tools?

It's an on car wheel balancer, you don't take the wheel off, you just run it on the corner of the tyre. how much do you want for it? i don't suppose you know if it's still calabrated?

Yep, like pete says, its an on car balancer. Press a button and a motor kicks that spindle at the bottom over to spin the wheel, then t'other bit sits against the wheel and reads the vibration on it, which comes up on a dial on the main machine. The big blue bit is a light, but the bulb is blown in it I think. I've also got the adaptor cable to power it with - the machine has a really weird sort of plug I've never seen before. I don't know if its still calibrated - its been sitting under a tarp ever since I can remember - at least 15 years, probably more. As to what its worth - no idea. Make an offer if you want it!
