ive decided its been too long(6 months) not having my mini 25 on the road and have decided to sell the golf and put the money into the mini and giving it to my dad, with the insurance being a measely £109 a year HAHA,im quoted £250 and I'm 21!
anyway it needs A LOT of welding. I was just wondering what i need to check i.e oil, fluids timing etc is there a guide to doing this somewhere?as i dont want to overlook anything.

You mean just to start an engine after it's been sat a while?
Check the oil level, whip all the plugs out and crank it over to make oil pressure, check the plugs are sparking etc. Turning it over by hand first isn't a bad idea and a fully charged battery and some fresh fuel won't hurt.

I'd squirt some fresh engine oil down each of the bores (plugs out) the night before starting it. That way it'll lubricate things nicely. Doesn't need much, just a couple of squirts from a long spouted oil can so the oil gets to where it needs to be.
On the day you want to start it, with the plugs out try to start the engine with short turns of the key until the oil light goes out.
This will get the oil to where it needs to be, then put the plugs back in, connect the HT Leads and then start her up. Put some fresh engine oil in the carburettor dashpot too and treat it to a full service/oil change.
As for the brakes, well check they aren't seized and there's no fluid leaking from the cylinders. Check the fluid reservoir has ample fluid too.

squirting some oil into the cylinders is a very good idea, but be careful topping up the carb, they rarely actually need oil and if you overfill it the oil in the inlet could make it harder to start. Check the brakes actually work and go carefully for the first few miles. As said check for fluid leaks, keep an eye on the fluid level and look for black flecks in the reservoir, indicators of perished brake seals. Reversing can help clear grabby rear brakes.
