been having intermittent gear selection problems

occasionally the gearstick wont go into gear(any gear)
just for a v short time ,then its ok,,

its got a quickshift and sc/cr gearbox,,
heard rumours that straight cut gearboxes
can be temperemental ,but seems more like a gear selector
problem if anything anyway

also noticed the spring connected to the slave cylinder on the clutch
has broken off, could this little thing be causing it?

any help appreciated

cheers in advance :w00t:

Does it crunch when you try and put it into gear and it won't?

no, it just doesnt want to go in any gear,

after a few attempts its back to normal,,

it doesnt happen that often,,
but i dont want to damage the box or anything

it happened twice tonight,,

getting a little more frequent.

Hmm, sounds like something in the selector fork or the gearbox linkage box is wearing out, and so causing some kind of mis-alignment. Do you know what make your quick-shift was? Was it KAD?

I'd put it down to the Quick shift, after having one for two days on a perfectly good gearbox, I snapped it because it would not engage gears, any kind of resistance like a draggin clutch or dry joint and you've had it...

I've come to the conclusion that if you want a shorted trow on the stick, then it's much better to bring the whole shift mechanism in board, thus shorteneing the tick it's self...

BlueMini will show yo how that's done

Yeah had similar problems with my quickshift, the slot machined in the side of the upper ball which engages with the pin in the shiny housing wore and the thing gradually wouldnt get any gear except 1st and 2nd with a load of crunching.
