I've got an MG metro 1275 i'm stripping down and rebuilding and i've found that the elastomer in the crank damper pulley is perished and well past its' sell by date so i'm going to need a replacment.
So i've been looking around and i can't find the standard type on sale anywhere.
I can only seem to find higher qualityversions from companies such as MED, Swiftune but they're about £100 odd, so where do i get one?

To absorb and control harmonic vibrations in the crank and prevent it snapping.

The standard A+ crank damper is perfectly adequate, if you can find one.

It's such a good idea that all multi cylinder engines have one!

The standard pulley is a damper pulley.

Austin Rover never saw the need to put a damper on the small bore A. Don't worry unless your churning over at 4-5k revs for hours on end.

Errm, yes they did. ALL A series engines need a crank damper because of the three main bearing crank, engine size isn't relevant. 998s had a damper pulley just the same as 1275s.

The A+ pulley is actually pretty good as I said above.

I'm sure I've owned many a small bore A with a plain crank pulley. The fan belt and water pump will do the damping job to some degree. Having only 3 mains makes the A Series crank nice 'n short and torsionally stiffer - admittedly it can wobble about in other directions more than a 5 bearing lump.
