Got my new sprite home today and discovered some nasty holes in the usual places! Worst condition I've ever seen a 93 model in, no thanks to a bad paint job me thinks!!

Progress is slow due to breaking my collar bone >_< on my motorbike, stick to four wheels from now on i think lol.
Anyway I managed to get the boot floor tacked in last night, then the welder ran out ouf wire! Now waiting on a boot hinge panel.

Yes will be doing all the welding myslef.

Found a second hand rear subframe today. It is from a 1996 cooper. Will it be the same as mine, in terms of brakes and exhaust hangers. I think I will buy it as it will save me stripping all the parts off the old one onto the new one and I wont have to touch the brakes or renew bushes e.g.

Got a new welding hanset today and ordered more panels for the rear so progress will recomence on monday hopefully.

any advice much appriciated.

yep should be all the same, exhaust and brakes wise mate.

just a note, about what it says at the top of this page in red tho :(

Couldnt believe thats a 93 car, looks like a big job, but already looking better with the boot floor coming together

Theres been a fair bit of progress since the last post.

The rear is more or less finished, got it seam sealled today. Ready for a wee bit of filler.

Also I got the new (secondhand) rear subby in last week so i stripped it down and prepped it ready for paint, think I'm going for POR 15 rust preventitive paint then Por 15 chassis Black.

Pulled out the front subframe and engine in a one-er, then de-greased them.

Got started on the sills as well, the passengers side is almost there, just needs the welding finished then ready for the waxoyl.

Looking good mate, mines in about the same condition except the boot floor is OK, any reason why you have gone for oversills instead of standard short sills?

well to be honest I got the oversills because the floor is rotten where the normal sills weld on. but I think I might cut down the oversills but will definatly be cutting out the live rust or treating it.

My dads 20year old welder has eventually given up the ghost so he's ordered a new one, so should get going again next week.
