When i fitted my new headlining a few months back i removed all the windows in the car and when i replaced the front and rear screens i used new seals, and i thought i did a pretty good job until i went on a local mini run with Mini's N Oatcakes last weekend and got cought in the rain, all was going well until i saw bubbles either end of my dash rail appearing, (The bubbles were off the fairy liquid i used to get the filler strip back into the rubber lol)

so i quickly stuffed tissues down by the dash, i assume its because when the wipers are going and the shape of the screen the water collects slightly at the bottom corners of the screen,

i dont know if the waters coming in from the glass or from under the seal itself but i need to sort it,

i am (at some point) going to remove my dash and rail and see where its coming in but how can i fix it?

my old mini use to leak and i hated the smell of wet damp carpets lol and for once id like to drive a mini without it peeing water in from somewhere lol im also planning on putting some new speakers and sorting out my cd player and fitting new carpets but i dont want to do that until its sorted because i dont want things getting ruined by water etc

the rear screen leaks slightly from the bottom corners too.

Cheers peeps
Dan. :(

could try using tyre soap not fairy liquid, what we did when we changed the locking strip on the back of my mini, the soap doesnt just sit there like the fairly liquid will

only ifyou want it to look terrible! the only real way to do this is to take them out and properly fit them again!

i brought some black windscreen sealent for my mini, i just masked up round the window, ran a small bead round between the seal and the bodywork, and it dont look too bad, no idea if it has done the job though, its still in many peices in my lockup being built :(

But if youve already got water behind the seal, you need to remove it and start again anyways, or it will just eat away at the metal under it and it will cost you alot more that a £10 seal.

Go to your nearest autoglass centre or to a auto windscreen place and ask them for some sealent , i pay about £5 cash for it as it goes in the pot for there beer at the end of the week

its called ARBOMAST AUTOGRADE windscreen sealing compound
its in a tube, and its nice and easy to clean up after no more leaks
hope this helps or try this site

I find they usually leak from water going into the channel where the window sits and coming inside that way, usually caused by ******* quality new rubbers. You can test where it's coming in by getting someone to hold a hose outside and watch from the inside. To sort it, I removed the rubber bead, and using a sealant gun applied windscreen sealant into the channel, with the window still in place, making sure there were no gaps where the water could creep in. Refit the bead, any extra sealant that has squidged out can be removed easily with degreaser and a rag. You can't tell it's been touched if you do it right. Oh and wear gloves, that stuff goes everywhere and is a nightmare to get off!

so remove the rubber filler strip. then run a line of sealent between the glass and rubber, then fit the filler strip in, to be honest i think it is coming from the glass, theres no way it can be leaking from the body side of it, il av a go, cheers

I think when i refit my back window properly i'll just fill both channles with a bead of windscreen sealant, then just wipe away the excess once the chrome strips in
