Hi guys just wanting to get a rough guide price on how much a MkI shell is worth?

The shell i have in the garage has a log book etc and most panels and interior, although it is in need of a full resto (due to spending 20 odd years in a barn)
The shell is fairly solid (floors and sills look decent) although there is significant rot in the rear quarter panel. Has various bits in boxes such as light units and glass and bumpers.

Wanting a ball park figure really, as unsure what i want to do with it!

Cheers

Rob.

A mk1 project was sold in the last couple of days in the parts sale section on here, it had low milage but it had a dig dent in it's side from an accident years ago, I think it went for about £800 :P

Yea i saw that one, but to be fair it was a fair bit more complete than the one i have, as although there was a fair amount of damage it was a complete car...although most parts are there on my shell, the majority aren't bolted on!!

I was interested in that one the other day but it sold before I could def say Yes

If you are selling please give me a shout as I may well be interested if the price is right

Wont put a price as I would be biased but would think less than that other one as I saw other photos and it was very solid

All the parts will have to come off to do a restoration anyway !!
I think you must be talking in the region of £500, but I'm sure someone will be along shortly to say it's only worth £100/£200 :P

my dad sold a fairly decent mk2 shell for £400 and the mk2 shells are not as desirable as a mk1 shell.
if the doors are good that will help you get a good price.

having stuff in boxes is ok so long as you make a list of what is in each box and the condition of each part.

the car SOG was selling was going to need a professional repair as it will undoubtedly need pulling straight before any repair work can start.
so long as urs is straight then 99% of it can be restored in a garage by anyone with a little bit of confidence.

without seeing pics aim to get £500-£800 complete.

hope this helps

Is everyone sure that the recently sold MK1 was a MK1 not a MK2, the photo's were not very cleae but rear window looked a bit big and from the one photo the gearchange didn't look like a mgic wand....

Saying that a decent MK2 shell is still a desirable thing, as it happens I've gota rally prep'd one for sale been off the road since 1984 - dry stored - but in need of bodywork but some original cooper s gear on it.

Cheers for the help guys, with those prices in mind i'm going to have to sort it out a bit more! Its a bit of a shambles at the minute, with extra parts ie various dorr catches and light units! but if i was to sell id want the whole lot gone! Id have thought its on the lower end of the budget, as although for the most part its solid, there is some rust its a rolling shell at the minute but i have the engine and box and all glass and lights, theres only one door aswell(although it is in good nick)!
