How can I find out more about my engines age/prduction year and specs from the engine number?

Could it be its not originally from a mini then?

Metro maybe or completely different car all together like a triumph or something?

Well considering the fact the Metro probably only went unleaded some time during 1989 (like the Mini), then that engine must be of 1989/1990 stock?

The Metro became the Rover 100 some time in 1990 (I think? or was it 1991?) and it then got fitted with the 'K' series engine instead.

So it's a very late 1980's/very early 1990's engine in that case? (1989 or 1990 I'd say if pushed?)

Kool thankyou! Im assuming that because my car was registered before 2001 I fall into the £66 (6 months) and £120 for years road tax?

Do you think I should start a project thread up for my engine conversion

cheers i finally got me head round the 2nd one two onli just tho but i caunt work out the 1st one and my insuraunce are wanting £1800 if they dont no where the engine came from and what year aarrgghhh the fun minis bring lol

it wouldnt possibly be a metro would it ?

Your other engine is a 998 from the 99H't an early pre-74 A series, not got too many details on them, hence why they are not in the database yet...

PS... change your insurance firm as they don't know their arse from their elbow...
