ok so i finally got a pair of black original door mirrors sorted from fleabay.
i was going to fit them today in place of the `tex` chrome ones that have been fitted by a previous owner, took the chrome ones off to discover holes everywhere.
the original fitment holes have been ruined , theres extra holes and the surface under the mirror mounting bit is badly dented.
anyone got any bright ideas as how to repair and make good this area without replacing door skins ?

cheers..........

If theres alot of holes there then filler won't provide much support and will probably just crack and flake, taking the paint with it. Have you got any pics?

I gather the mirror base doesn't cover the holes? If not then the only way of doing it properly is either to weld up the holes, then skim with filler if needed and repaint, or change the doorskin which is probably a bit drastic if the rest of it is ok.

the base of the old mirors cover the holes but originals have smaller base, not big enough to cover all the holes
thinking of welding and filling and going for clip on mirrors maybe, not sure because clip ons are kind of a retro thing which wouldnt fit in with my plans .
anyone know if the clip ons available in black or just chrome ?
