Half a litre would be enough, if you're spraying it.

Depends if your using a compressor and spray gun. If so like pete said half a litre would be enough. Alternatively you could go down to someone who mixes paint and get 2 500 ml spray cans. This will be good quality stuff(not like Halfords c**p). Make sure you use a lacquer. 1 pak for a slight gloss(probably good enough for an engine bay), 2 pak for a proper shine(if your a perfectionist).

All done, went for 2 pack in the end with a compressor and spray gun, really happy with the finish, i think we used about half a litre or slightly less
