I'm about to mount a new RC40. Is there any special paste or compound I should use during the process joining the different sections?

many motor factors will sell all sorts of different exhaust sealants, if your fitting a full new system personally i wouldn't use any if you can get a good enough seal but that's just my opinion

Yes, use some exhaust assembly paste.

You'll regret it if you don't when the exhaust is blowing and you have to take it all off again!

Not that I would have been silly enough to have done that last week.... :P

So I got my back boxes mounted and was about to line up the Y piece to the middle extension piece for the RC40 and the middle piece and Y piece have the same bore diameter.

CR*P!!!!!. Looks like I need to order a new Y piece.

I presumed that the Y piece would be a standard bore but they are the same. Any ideas about this would be great. Is there a specific size I need to order and will that affect the bore size mating onto the two pipes from the LCB?
Thanks

Doesnt the Y piece have little slits in it so the pipe'll bend outwards so you can securely clamp the link pipe in?

I grinded mine down so it was cone shaped and then with a bit of brute force and ignorance (my favourite tool) it went on

Just ordered a new Y piece of larger dimensions. I am trying very hard to like this car. I've only had it a couple of weeks but the list of faults and problems is crazy. To think I paid 5.5k for it. *rubbish*!!!!!!!

hey dont worry you've bought a classic and the problems that come with 1! I think everyone on here will tell you that they've had times when they were ready to walk to the garage and torch the thing but that's what keeps you going, I paid £900 for mine and spend 4 grand rebuilding it and now i still spend about £50 a week on parts just to keep it running!

chin up mate, it'll all be worth it that sunny day when you end up on a country lane with no traffic for miles :P
