Ok, ever since I bought my mini it has had this really irritating thing on the driver's side window - when I try to wind it down it gets about half way and then starts making this grinding noise and is really really difficult to get down - does the same coming back up, again until about half way!
The other side is fine and winds down easily and without any noise at all - is there anything I can do that doesn't involve taking the whole door apart or something?
Cheers,
J

Best thing to do is to pop the door card off and have a look. there shold be seom inspection holes and you may be able to get some idea of what's going on.
Last time this happened to me i ended up removing the winder mechanism, cleaned up the winder spindle and string steel that winds around it, Then I used copius amounts of grease on it.
This cured the problem, however without looking you will not be able to know if this is problem or not. it could be that the glass runners are rusty and need replacing or cleaning up and greasing lightly.
Worth mentioning that sometimes the felt on the weather strips at the top of the door can fail causing the steel backing to rub the glass.

hey
ive had a noise like that it turned out the metal arms that hold the window up, one of them was bent. i just trapped it in a vice and bent it back.
