I took my Mini checkmate (H/1990) for MOT the other day. It seemed to be going well until the tester said my nearside rear brake wasnt working...
The tester thinks that the cylinder might have siezed up and so i was thinking whats the best way to unsieze it? Also if i find that its knackered, can i replace just that cylinder or do i have to replace both rear cylinders to make sure that theyre both working at the same efficiency?
Thanks
Dilesh

If your lucky once youve removed the drum and can see the cylinder, take off the shoes..put a flat blade screwdriver into the slot of the wheel cylinder piston (where the shoe locates) and try and turn it..Then check for leaks.
The ideal though would be to change the cylinder and yes you can do just the one.
