As per title really, i bought a 998 engine that i am planning on re-building in my flat but i have it in the back of my golf and there's no way i'll be able to lift it out on my own!! It needs to be out ASAP!

So is anyone available tonight just to pop round and help me lift it out (5 mins tops!)

Cheers,

Matt.

Hi mate

If thers no oil in it, split the gear box from the engine and take the head of you be able to lift it out by your self then as your going to rebuild it any way.

Hi,

I've taken off everything that was bolted onto it to try and make it lighter! I wanted to separate the gearbox from the block but i havn't done this on one of these engines before :-s Do you not need to take the bell housing off aswell in order to get the 'box off?

It is just the block and box in the car as one lump at the mo...

I lifted an a-series for the first time tonight and all I can say is, I hope you find more than one other person!

There were three of us and it was still a bit of a fight, then again, Scott's a weakling :).

Why don't you ask some neighbours or friends? Surely they don't need to be Mini enthusiasts to lend you a hand for 5 mins?

Two people should be able to do it, I lifted my new 1275 out of the C5 boot with my girlfriends 51 year old Mum, (though she is a farmers daughter and horse trainer - freakishly strong!

I would help, but not close enough I'm afraid.

Haha, well yeah i bought it of Andy_b on here and we pretty much lifted in in the car with a little nudge from his mate. I stripped it down to just block, gearbox and bell housing whilt in the car to make it lighter and its easy to lift for two people now, but still far to heavy/aqward for one person on their own!

I do have a mate who lives in my block of apartments but he's moved in with his missus now and i never see him lol! Everyone else just seems really arsy, i just keep myself to myself - not sure how well "excuse me, could you help me lift an engine out the back of my car" would go down with some of the sour faced gits!

Just wait outside and wait for someone to walk past and then look like your really struggling and then they might help you! :)

Do you live on the top floor of a tower block?

Is the lift 'out of order'?

Try 'Man with van'
