it sounds like a good idea, I've not heard of it being done before. Got any solid plans for it i.e. where your going to put everything?

it has been done before but im not shore if in a mini or not, i have 2 sets of plans in mind, one is a removable comp and the other is a buit in comp

ok plans as follows built in comp

2-3gig prossser on a atx board with a gig of ram runing off a Automatic Startup/Shutdown Controller as this can be used with a normal power supply and is a cheaper option

320gig 3.5 hard drive

256 g-card as you need the tv out put for the moniter witch i allready have on the 2din head unit i own so no need to buy a screen

good quality sound card as it will be running thru the head unit and be playing my music

cd drive to trancfer music if needed to

also a usb lap top drive say 80gig that can be tacken in and out of the car and house again to upload muic/videos/programs

software will be Road Runner as its easy to use on the go and the sat nav software will be Navigator 4.3 Plus not grate but good anuff

keyboard and mouse will be radio and all in the same unit (Keysonic ACK-540 ALU)

gps for sat nav will be the Globalsat BU353

this will be made to fit under the rear seat as there is plenty of room behind the speaker board or if you are clever anuff you could get smaller components and fit it all behind the dash

the removable

same as above but withe every thing made smaller and fitted in to a shuttle case,
as the suttle case is mall anuff just to put in the passenger footwell without being in the way

nether of the ideas i have planed have been tested yet so things may change somware down the line

the Globalsat BU353 is a usb satellite receiver that is 100% waterproof and has a magnetic mount so can be placed anywhere there is metle and the software will do the rest

Sounds like you know where your at, but if you get stuck head over to mp3car, if you've not already. Just a forum dedicated to the building of car pc's.

256 g-card as you need the tv out put for the moniter witch i allready have on the 2din head unit i own so no need to buy a screen

good quality sound card as it will be running thru the head unit and be playing my music

Might aswell use the onboard connections, otherwise you may find your PSU can't handle everything your trying to install.

And from experience, if you want to actually read whats on the screen make sure your monitor is VGA compatible otherwise you will find you have made a costly mistake.
