My car pulls to the right if i brake suddenly at motorway speeds.. not so bad if i'm going slower. I also notice that there is loads of brake dust on the drivers side front wheel but none on the passenger side front wheel. It also smells of burning quite badly when i get out.

I have been to a garage and asked them to check it. They could not find anythin wrong with the brakes but did say that it needed a wheel bearing on the drivers side, as there is play in the wheel. Does that sound like what is causing the problem??.. how can a wheel bearing be causing the problems i've described? ta for any help.

Yes a wheel bearing gone will cause the wheel to move about a lot more i.e it wont run true between the two pads and will cause excessive wear on the pads producing the extra brake dust you are seeing.

Best to get the bearing sorted first and see if this cures the problem if it doesnt then i would suggest a seized caliper piston maybe and this would mean both calipers off and probably for good measure a refurb of both!!

Good grief, I go away for a few days and you manage to break your car again!!!

Do you want me to take a look?

If the Brg is affecting braking then it could be dangerous?

I'm off this week so give me a bell.

Could be a sticky pison in the braking system. El Gordo used to really badly pull to the right when I tried to stop. So much so it would thrash the wheel round if I was not careful.

I'd check the brakes over (as it's the cheaper options) and see if there is anything amiss, as for the bearing. I do suggest getting them done sharpness either way. Bearins cost £30-35 a side (less if you haggle with the guy at Motor Factor shop :D).
