hi, i am new to mini's and dont know anything about the mechanical and electrics of them, i have a 1992 spi cooper ,i bought it last year and the front end had been removed so i have put all new panels on and resprayed, when i built it back up and eventually got the engine started i noticed i have a problem. when i start it it seems fine then oncest the engine heats up it looses its rev's to 1500-2000 when revved it goes to 2000 then drops and then rev again and still only goes to 2000, i can just about drive it in and out of the garage with the clutch half in and revving hard !!! is there anyone who maybe no what might be wrong , all suggestings will be great ! please help me !!!!!!

Stupid question i know, but have you checked to make sure the butterfly valve is opening fully when pedal is pressed? If so, you might have problem with your stepper motor. You say it doesn't rev when warm, does it rev fine when cold?

hi' minicooper1.3i. yes it revs fine when cold ,it starts to drop the revs as the automatic choke starts to switch off, my brother-inlaw is doing the mechanics but has no knowledge of mini's especially injections ,as far as i know he has checked the butterfly valve was fully opened ,he has stripped the carb and checked the connections .he thinks one of the sensors may be faulty but unsure what one . i might just have to take it somewhere to get the ecu plugged in to a computer, thanks for your reply to my question
