The Ultimate Road Hazard

Such behaviour can turn a simple journey into a Goon Show script. Once, when leaving home to return a test car, I came close to a sheep which, in a panic, started running towards two other sheep farther down the road.
They, of course, joined in, as did several others, until eventually I was chasing nine sheep. This went on for a while until one of the sheep ran into a passing place and stopped. Three of the others followed it.
I was now chasing five sheep, but the flocking instinct of the four stationary ones soon took over, and they scampered along trying to join the five ahead. To reach them would mean getting past me, and they did their damndest to do just that.
So I was effectively chasing five animals ahead of me and another four behind me. Or, to put it another way, the four sheep behind were trying to overtake the thing they were running away from.
The whole thing was only resolved when the lead sheep darted into a farm road and the others, naturally, went with it. Before I was out of sight they were chomping away at the grass verge, having clearly forgotten the whole incident.

I was driving home last night, through a little village. A small bird flew out of the hedgeright in front of the Polo, and I caught it a glancing blow with the front bumper. I watched it in the rear view mirror for a second as it tried to get its balance back, it then flew straight into the front of a Range Rover going the other way! Big plume of feathers, bye bye bird......

Those sheep are dangerous. I used to work repairing company cars. One guy lived in Scotland, he hit a sheep, totaled the front of the car, carried on driving and totaled the engine too! Car was a Citroen Xantia (sorry for swearing) the front ends were built like brick out houses, and this one was inside out, complete with blood and wool!!!!
Cheers,
Gavin.
