lol dont worry about it. did you get my text? sorry you couldnt make it to the run. i decided to cycle into work that day, one of the worst decisions ive ever made!good work oli, sorry i never got round to popping up to help with the front panel.
it turns out the alternator is at fault with the car not the glow plugs, so having to drive in daylight only with no radio heater etc
but once you have found space in the garage give me a shout and we will whip the engine out and go from there(that is if you need help as you doing brill on your own!!)
David
ah thats *rubbish*. i remember being a bit like that when the mini alt wasnt working. at the same time the newly installed headlights were blowing fuses so i went to halfrads to get some more. by then it was dark so needed lights and it literally would have been more use using a candle. i broke down on the way back and had to call my grandad out to drive just 5 mins to my house and get another battery.
yeah will do. a few years away from any kind of sporting activity will have taken its toll so i wont be able to lift it out all on my own
still having trouble finding a garage for the car. im going to be making a few measurements of the min and my dads garage despite how much he doesnt want it to be there. otherwise ill be looking to rent one reasonably close or might ask my neighbours if they want to rent (double garage - they keep their cars outside and old furniture inside, what a waste!
thank you. wont be soon and its already proving not to be smooth, but she'll still get there in the endIts good to see the rebuild has begun!
I hope it all goes nice and smoothly for you and that shes back on the road nice and soon!
p.s. was out in t wells tonight and saw 2 minis go past, one of which i know from the area adn the other i dont recognise. just made me remember driving my min and the great feeling you got when you waved at other minis and just the great feeling of driving one! made me really miss it

Looks good mate, progress is good, why not add some pictures of her after the crash? just a thought
See the WD40most important classic mini tool ever ha
plenty of pictures there mate lol
yep WD40 is a god send. that was to help with the rad fan bolts as the car wont go in gear and so the fan kept spinning as i was undoing them.

am so pleased you started the work, it'll be well worth it, besides at least considering it'll be a whole new front end, you can modify it if you want to - much easier than working with what you have already!
good luck Oli, and remember I'm gonna hold you to this conversation : -
haha you do that!Thank you. dont know about soon as such but she'll be back better than ever, i promise!that's a real shame Oli, she looked a really nice little min, hope you get her sorted and purring again soon!!
I'll hold you to thatwas jealous of you beforehand!!
![]()
and in a few years youll be even more jealous than you were
not that you should be, henrietta is a very nice pretty looking mini. you should be very proud!

with my cunning plan we should be able to do it between us as long as you got a trolley or skateboard to move it with haha

hmmmm sounds interesting david! as it happens i may, somewhere, at the back of the garage i still have to clear out, have a skateboard circa 1843. none of these silly flimsy things you jump around on! a good old solid chunk of tree with some wheels screwed oni have had a cunning plan re the engine removal oli, so let me know when you are wanting to do it and I will pop round after work.

David
it will be soon! shes been sitting out there rotting for too long
not here this weekend so next week, week-time, i will get round to clearing out the rubbish in my mums garage for the engine(s), whilst looking for a sub-£500 car, whilst looking for a million lost receipts showing £££'s spent and then get round to sorting out my dads garage against his will to get the mini in it. its gonna be hard work

ah brilliant. say thanks to your uncle for me. thats a huge help! i suppose i need to make some kind of stand to put the engine on? maybe a few bricks would do although less than ideal.
ok. ill get the garage cleared (motivation running low in this weather lol) and then get a sundady off work some time. think i have one in a couple of weeks actually
yep, cheers mate

the plan was a length of 3 x 2, a rope and our shoulders

well the engine will happily sit on the sump without falling over
the plan was a length of 3 x 2, a rope and our shoulders(bit like an old school milk wench
)
LOL thats how me and my mate got my engine out
I just tied two ropes round either side of the engine, we put that over our shoulder and pulled it out, with two people its really not very hard to lift out....
Just make sure everything is dissconected before you go to lift it out, lol when i lifted mine out we got it up and nearly out and found that someone had added an extra earth at the back, so we had to put it back and go again lol.
Good luck!

in that case itll just have to stay on its sump for a bit, while i clean it up and get it running again. for the new engine i was going to get a 360* engine stand from clarke or somewhere to make it easier (and be a bit flash). theyre only £33
