My old car had been a road rally mini as far as i could make out but the shell was just nackered,so i decided to go the hole hog and build what i always wanted a mini to compete on loose surfaces and in mainly forests. So here goes. The story so far donner shell soda blasted to bare metal then fitted a weld in cage from Rollcentre, modified rear arches, bulkhead and a few other tweaks to the bodyshell.

it started life in 1969,i want to mix things up alittle on the build of this car keeping alot of best parts from the old days on like split 40s,5 port head and at the minute trying to source a short stroke crank at good money. The car is going back to the paint shop this week to have the inside resprayed again as i'm not happy with it but want to get it on it's feet first so it's easily moved about .If anyone has any advice or suggestions during this build i will by all means take them on board and consider them anyway.

Well i'm just putting the old engine back into the car to start with which is a 1293 unit with a fully worked bottom end and a fully ported head 35 inlet valves and 29 exhaust on the 279 cam and split 40s and believe me it goes well but will build a screamer when i source a short stroke crank at the right money
Can't upload anymore pics at my limit computer says no!

what are the arches made from? not sure how long they will last if they are anything other than metal, then again  dont get too used to being in good condition, the guy who i bought mine from i think he rolled it on his 1st rally. On mine was rather terminal engine damage on my 1st...saying that my friends 1st rally went alright and got spirit of the rally award

They are fortech fibreglass arches not worried have a contact for the arches who might even get their name on the car if we strike a deal on replacements.I building the car for the job in hand fun first then class placement.

as soon as something goes it sapps the fun right out though, my 1st rally, spent loads coming upto it, trusting someone else did a good deal and as such ended up costing me lots more money because the engine basicly had to have most of the components replaced or referbed in some form. Only got the effort to do it few months back after my 1st rally on 16th of feb at rockingham (been also alot of hassle rebuilding the engine seeking rare parts)
would have liked to have just have finished the rally, wouldnt have minded about placement, was dead fun blasting it super super hard knowing its legal also

The old shell has just left on the back of the scrap lorry so next job is to clean the workshop and get ready for the shell to come in and then the fun really begins.Just when you thought you had all you bits and pieces to hand eerrrgghhh!!!!!!!!
