How should I tackle small patches of rust?

I've had a proper poke, and cleaned the area up with a wire brush and it's not gone thorugh, just slight surface rust.

Whats the best way to treat so that it doesnt come back?

Dinitrol RC800

£30 for a big tub, generally regarded as the only worth buying.

I've used it myself and give it an A*

If the metal is thick enough (ie rust not too far in!) then a wire wheel in an agle grinder will get it back to shiny metal in a couple of sweeps, then clean+degrease, then etch primer then topcoat (plus waxoyl if inside?) Depends where it is really. Also worth stopping it recurring,eg if its the floor next to where the rubber grommets always fall out its probably worth welding them up while youre at it.
My 2 cents you understand, everyone has their fave techniques.

If the rust is coming through from behind - then you need new metal. If'it's surface rust caused by paint loss - then clean it up wire brush/wet and dry paper, treat with rust killer - then prime and paint !

Pretty sure this is just surface rust as I've taken it down to bare metal with the grinder/wire brush and the metal underneath seems fine.
I'll give it a coat in some of that rust killer stuff before priming it then.

Thanks
