hello people

im new to the forum but have just purchased a 1983 austin metro with 24k on the clock 1.3 automatic but the gearbox is shot.

i work for my local honda garage as a car mechanic and honda parts are cheep. but the main reason im hear is i would like to fit a crb100(fireblade) engine into my metro.

im not sure which set up im going fo yet as i need your help.

im keen to have rwd but need your advise on where to fit the engine in the boot or in the existing engines place btu would then need a propshaft and diff e.c.t i would also like to keep the rear seats in if i can.

my plan which came into my mind was to cut the boot floor out and custom make a subframe to hold the engine and a rear axel abit like a go-kart.but as i have no experience in this field im not sure if it would work.

hope you can help as metros are quite similar to the mini i think in some respects.

I don't think it being Minish will make any difference, but there are a few bike engined projects on the forum for inspiration and ideas. I'm not sure you'd manage to keep the rear seats unless you hang the engine out of the back like a Beetle & I doubt it would be a popular place to sit! There are a few front engined FWD bike powered Minis about and the Metro front frame is used by some of the Honda & Vauxhall transplants. I think you might manage to put a K Series into a Metro too
