Picked her up on saturday for the little sum of £570. no corrosion whatsoever, little bits of surface rust here and there and a few little dents around the car but otherwise perfec! not bad for a 34 year old machine.

i know a few members already know and have 'voiced' their concerns :techsupport: , but i havent put a post up as i havnt had any good pics...and still dont. hopefully tomorrow. but for now, here she is. 3 months without driving and im finally back on the road. i know she's not a mini but i wont be away from driving one for long hopefully and ive still got one in the garage, still buying mini mag, and still on here for most of my existance.

That looks really tidy!!!

How cool would that look with a set of slot-mag wheels?

Maybe even paint the bonnet matt black '70s rally styleee?

funnily enough, i was thinking abo[ut getting a second bonnet and painting it matt black to see what it looks like. think theres one for sale 5 mins away too :D and i think slots are what im after, havent seen any/many on the viva forum with slots. quite a few with minilights though. could put mine on but not really the look i want to go for on the viva.

Drop it on the Deck, fit fat rims an exhaust system and retro touches and you will have a proper Retro Ride. Go buy the magazine and see!!

well for the time being i was going with period alloys (slots, rostyles or the like) and possibly a cherry bomb exhaust as the tail pipe fallen off anyway, the only thing to have really been affected by rust. then if the ride height looks funny with the alloys, lowered 60/60 springs; or if it looks alright possibly stiffer springs and hopefully uprated dampers whatever as it rolls about all over the place. already got 2 front fogs needing a refurb as they were on my grandads victor some 40 years ago, will get rear square fog and reversing lamp for t'other side. and thats about it.

would like to have the standard steels banded to 6 or 7j but still have the hub caps on, but i have no idea where i could get that done and how much it would be

What is the PCD of the wheels.
I have some banded 13" wheels and tyres that I am sick of moving arond my workshop!!

Vaxhall redtop would be a good conversion when you have sorted the springs and dampers?

Lovely example but to my knowledge there's no British engineering in a 4 door HB Viva. In fact it's a very tidy car. It must be a one owner. I can't agree with anyone telling you to modify it, it should stay standard.

I'm quite surprised you ended up getting a Viva! Looks very tidy too! Treat it well, there's not many left (obviously). I agree with Dan that it should be kept standard, but of course that's our opinion and it's up to you.

I agree with this sentiment too, for Gods sake dont do anything to it that cannot be easily put straight again. These old cars, particularly when in this sort of condition need to be cherished. If it was a knacker fine but from the picture that looks to be a good example.

I love it!!!!

I agree, don't make permanent changes... please!!

Nice set of period rostyles would look great though. Otherwise, gorge yourself in it's lubberly 70s-ness!!!!

My dad had two in the 70s/80s :D

OOOHHHH - what a gorgeous car. I do have a soft spot the Vauxhaul Viva. Its shout's volumes about its era and generation. From my youth I recall being stood around the garage - with 4 "Vish", 2 freshly imported from Jamaca with no rust whats so ever, and you could still "smell" its originating country.

A friend back home still restores them, I just need to get back over that way to have a look around his garage. Those were the days.

A very nice looking example - I hope your smiling ear to ear.
