ok, sorry to keep resurrecting this but its basically become my side-project, so ill update this for anyone whos interested.

Got the B&S plates on with the mini wheels yesterday:

sorry for the night pics will get some daylight ones tomorrow.

still to do:
Reverse lamp and rear fog lamp

Front fog lights - couldnt find raydyot but havent tried truck-lite yet. might have another pair of square 8's lined up though.

Powerflow custom exhaust - no other choice, and very very expensive, but so yum yum. wave bye bye to restrictive pipes (and baked bean tins)!

Wheels/tyres - having such low profile tyres really doesnt work well on the viva as the overall diameter is a rough 2.5" less than the original wheels and tyres. therefore speedo's 12% out and it doesnt like high speeds. plus they might be just too wide, noticed today they might be clipping the arches slightly.

Parcel shelf and new speakers

Weber with custom manifold

Possibly a retro roof rack

(time passes...)

V8 + 5 speed box!

Been a while so i thought id give a quick update.

got a few things done but not much. most notably of all tho would be the new exhaust, a powerflow custom jobbie. 1.75" s/s straight through to a single silencer right at the back (was originally two boxes in the middle, so very restrictive and silent)

had a couple of issues, most notably the fact its so low driveways and carparks are nearly unusable, so might have to go back to powerflow. but other than that im chuffed, sounds proper meaty :) although its still painfully slow so i feel like a bit of an asbo :P

other than that, reverse lamp and rear fog have been attached, but not wired in due to unforeseen difficulties ;)
almost got a set of wolfies on ebay, but big thanks to my dad for losing them for me :dontgetit: so still looking
new headunit installed and new speakers to be installed when i get round to cutting the parcel shelf and making a new board for it.

an oil pressure problem has also become apparent so i will be rebuilding the engine some point soon, and if i can find a manifold, i will add a weber 40dcoe and look into getting some headwork done along with a 4 branch mani.

some pics to show what she looks like now

I love this car, it's brilliant, I must have missed it earlier on in the thread but what engine does it have? Looks brilliant on those wheels.

If that is the exhaust that can be seen hanging underneath then whoever fitted it needs to be shot!!

thanks for all the comments :)

its a 1256cc - currently having a few problems though so looking like i may have to rebuild the engine. in which case im considering getting the head stage 3 tuned, possibly fit a better cam if i can find one, and the 4-branch and weber to help it along too. but the availability of these parts is next to none so its unlikely. i dont know if it would be considered changing it too much? it would still be period, all the things bill blydenstine suggested for a 1256. not at all tempted by a redtop either

i got retro cars mag this month just for the viva, the dtv HB with a xflow fitted looks so nice! also the viva owners club is their website of the month ;D first time ive bought the mag but its really good so ill continue.

graeme, unfortunately that is the exhaust and you make a good point. it was designed and fitted by powerflow, only £280 too :D that is actually pretty much where the original exhaust runs but that would've had 2 silencers in the mid-section so wouldnt have looked so odd. it currently is a bit too low, i cant use driveways or car parks without scraping. so it looks like ill have to take it back down there at some point. on the plus side - lifetime garuntee
