hi mate on the face of it,it sounds to me like its just the engine doing more work on motorways and hills which is causeing the up in temp but bear in mind the following:-the condition of the water in the cooling system is it clean and does it have adiquet antifreeze content as this helps to keep the engine cool, how old is the thermostate is it opening fully at the right temp?,is the waterpump in good condition? is the rad clear not blocked or damaged?is the cooling fan in good condition and no blades missing?is the temp gauge acually reading correctly? these are all things to take into consideration when facing an overheating problem also if the gauge is not actually reading into the red it proberbly isnt overheating hope this helps you out.

Remove radiator and flush it with clear water, then flush the system with the heater on till you see clear water coming out the hose.
Refit the radiator and fill the system with water and a 30% of coolant, make sure its glycol-ethilene based.

great i am just gonna remove the radiator hose now and bleed the water, the guy who fitted the engine said he did not put any antifreeze in it at the time, of refitting the engine, he just put water in there!!! so im gonna take all the water out and put some propa glycol ethilene based coolant in thanks alot il let you know how it goes cheers

thanks alot minidino too il make sure i check the rest of the variables that you have highlighted il get the haines manual out ;-)

Thats probably the cause of your problem, definately mix water with a good 30% of coolant, it helps against either freezing and overheating.
Removing the rad its actually easier than stated on the hynes, remove the plate which connects to the thermostat, remove the retaining bolt under the rad and remove top hose and bottom hose from the water pump. To refit hoses, smear a little grease for an easier fitment.

i would not use grease when fitting rubber hoses as this could limit the life of the hose plus not only will the hose go on easy it may pop off during use even with the clip done up if you must use lubricent to fitt hoses use something like washing up liquid that will fade with time.
