I have a LHD Mini bought and still here in France, we are moving to the UK in July this year so can't bear to sell it so will be bringing it with me.
On the French equivalent of the Log Book it does not state the engine size and other Mini enthusiasts, over here, say it is a 1000 or a 1300?
It is a 1993 Rover Mini sprite with the vin (?) number
I cannot seem to find a website in French that lets me search for the engine size so thought some expert out there may know.
I went to a Mini specialist in Potters Bar when I was last in the UK and they asked if the engine block was red or not? it is Red but not too sure what it means.

Vin number removed, its not wise to display your vehicles VIN number on a public forum

From the factory 998's (1000) were yellow and 1275 (1300) were red.

The engine number should be riveted onto the block near the thermostat. That'll tell you what engine is currently] in the car.

I would expect a sprite of that age to have (originally) a 1275 - red engine.

Thanks for this, the engine block is red but the garage I bought it from did not know the cc and as it was not that expensive I thought it is probably a 1000 but it does go very quick and I have heard before that the red engine block is a 1300.
Does anyone know if there is a way to be 100% sure, for example checking out the engine number somewhere on-line?
I could wait until I get it over to the UK and take it to a reliable garage, I cannot believe I am lucky enough to have bought a 1275 I feel a Cooper'ish makeover coming on!
I move to the UK in July and instead of selling it over in France (were I live at the moment) for a pitance I thought I may as well hang on to it even though it is a LHD. If I sold it the money would probably only go to pay the bils anyway.
We wil be moving to rural Essex so hopefully I should find an owners club near by.
Thanks for taking the time to post your comment. DAVID

And also you might find the South East regional section on here useful, here's a list of some of the clubs http://www.theminifo...howtopic=137955 but there's also lists of monthly meets and mini services in that area :D

Easy enough to convert to RHD if you should want to
