I keep hearing about how poor the fuel economy is with a weber 45 carb? I was just wondering if those with a weber 45 could post up their average mpg? The Mini I have has one fitted currently and I am trying to see if I want to keep it.

I took my 1380 with 45DCOE to the IMM in Germany this year. We covered 1398 miles on mostly Autobhan and fast A roads and got 29ish mpg. We weren't hanging around though. :)

i had a highly tuned 1340 with a webber 45 on it, was immense but fuel economy wasn't great when at full chat on the motorway. In fact with a full tank i ran out of fuel twice when communting to bristol and back from swindon (about 85 miles!!) but like i said, really wasnt set up for road use, more a track day car

Thanks for the all the info! Mine is a 1312cc with a big cam.

I think my weber box is a bit big and plan to cut it back a bit. What kind of filters did you guys run on your webers? Did you use your Mini as a daily with it fitted?

Here's my setup with a K&N, this is a fairly small DCOE filter and is just wide enough for the standard Weber ram pipes but they do a wider one if you want to use aftermarket ram pipes. I don't use the car every day as it's bloody loud and is a pain to drive around town as it has quite a lumpy cam, I use it for doing fun stuff like going to shows, weekend blasts and the odd track day.

I've got a K&N on mine too, if you want to run it on the road you deff need a filter, if you want something smaller you could use the sock filters which fit over the ram pipes but the big filters are supposed to be the best. Also don't bother with wire mesh filters.

mine :) although having such big pipes means i have trouble getting filters, i bought a double sock filter set but didnt fit over the mouth, that was £25 wasted.
Need to get 2x single large socks in place

i dont know what MPG i get with this car, not something i look at really...what kind of driving are you looking at? motorway speeds? back roads?
my ecconomys going to be down in any case because of my 3.7 differential

Fuel economy depends on how much you push the right foot down :) LOL.
Ratty's a 1275 road/race cam lightened flywheel , 1 3/4 su/ very heavy right foot
and get 28mpg :) .... i put up with it just for the fun of driving it :D
