Nice one Bungle, had already thought about that mate. i reckon 20 to 30 litres should do it!!!!

What would be a good idea, but probably uber expensive is galvanising, don't know whether or not this has been done??

when talked about in the past people say that the heat would warp the frame :'(

Really, that's a shame. that would be an ideal solution.

What about electroplating it with something rust proof?

Yahoo! the forum is back up and running, which means once again i can sit around all day and do no work!!

Well, all the bits and bobs have now been put on to susie (stage 1, hi los and dampers, new windscreen seal, new subframe) And she's now gone from having her Arse in the air to sticking her nose up at me!! They really have got a personalitiy of thier own!!

When it all settles down from having new cones etc then i'll get sitting low and level. She's running nice though and has a nice burbling idle thanks to the stage 1 but mainly the RC40, which is a million miles better than the standard pea shooter.

Just a few things that people may be able to help with:

1-what setting for GAZ adjustable dampers do people find works well. They are set about in the middle at the moment.

2-got a bit of a squeaking going on from the off side suspension, think it could be the damper. It's not rubbing on the tyre though. Maybe because all the bits are new and need to build up road grime?!!

Any help greatly appreciated!

just a few pictures for an update. having deleted mine from photo bucket i didn't realise that they would appear on the forum anymore. ooopps!

quality piece of shag pile in rear load area!!! (still searching for some appropriate carpet to put in there)



same shag pile for boot lining!!



and Winston gets his own rug to sleep on on the parcel shelf!!

Susie will be treated to cobra classic buckets and three point harnesses in the next few months and i'll hopefully have sorted out the rear load area with some decent black carpet and do something with the door cards and the dash as well. that'll be the interior sorted then.

And here is a picture of susie on the rolloers at Collins in Brum:



she got a respectable 50bhp and 65 lb ft torque. Collin did a really good job on her and she runs sweetly due to the addition of:

- new dizzy with ignitor pack
- new HT leads
- new plugs
- and a good tune up session on the rollers.

pretty pleased with her at the moment, apart from deciding to snap one of the rear wheel studs off this morning.

just tinkering with the suspension settings at the moment till i'm happy, which will probably be never!!

don't think so matey, i've not had it resprayed so i assume that it is whatever red they sprayed the '92 city in.

plus there are a few different shades of red on the car if you look really closely in the flesh!!

she'll be in for a full on respray when the paint gets too shabby or the rust takes too much of a hold!! Then i'll be considering something like a deep candy apple red or burgundy red with a silver roof and door number stickers. this is a way down the road though, unfortunately!!

Evening all, just a quick update, not much going on at the moment with Susie and there is not likely to be in the near future either as i have just purchased Dan Websters KAD Mini!

I think i'm bloody mad!!! Managed to scare the poo out of myself, just on the drive home!

Thanks for the comments!! I am indeed crazy.

Yeah i paid the buy it now as i was not in a position to watch the auction and i knew Dan and had seen and been in the Beast before.

Your not wrong it is in another World completely and Dan makes driving it look so easy. It will take a LOT of getting used to but i think i'll be keeping my little 1000cc for most of my driving and then have the Beast for weekends and summer!! I won't be pushing her too hard over the winter, i can assure you of that.

And since Dan is a bloody skinny bloke and i am a bit larger than him (16 stone and nigh on 6 foot) i'll be needing to change the seating position and get wider bucket seats to accomodate my arse!!

Can anyone recommend a good set of buckets which will seat comfortably someone of my dimensions (Ade is a big lad too isn't he, what seats does he use?)

And does anyone have experience with a good insurance company for ultra modded minis. DAn was using HiC which he said was good but i need to canvas the opinions!!

Cobra Forza Bucket seats are really good for the bigger build I am 6'4" and 16 stone, would need to check if they will fit in a mini. I have a pair in a landrover so will measure how wide they are.
