Never had one, but I've always heard there are some of the most reliable engines. Probably a little more expensive...

Should it perform better than the volvo? what are the differences?

Thanks

this is the conversion that i would go for, even if you didnt get the same amount of power i would still go for it

its just something different and thats what minis are all about
there are way too many honda convertions out there for it to be something special. which to be honest, if i was spending all that money it would have to be

i stand firmly by that diesel is for tractors and lorries, and most of them still sound like tractors when they go past

I'm still thinking the volvo t4 would be the best choice to go for. It's going to be used most of the time as a road car on little roads going up and down the montains, sometimes on the track and I have to be able to drive 500 km without a headache or any back problems. Half comftable half sportscar. I'm right with the volvo then??

can anyone confirm how difficult the electrics will be on the volvo t4 engine? Any problems you can see witch this engine?

Thanks a lot for helping with this important decission.

ive two comments to make on this subject
as you know we have sold several volvo turbo conversions already
the first one we actually ran on the dyno went out to a guy in france
we used a DTA ECU and modified the stock volvo loom
in std trim the volvo wirings a nightmare nobody in sweden has cracked it out of the std car its immobilised to death and very complex
the DTA is easy to fit plugs in and runs
we had 235 bhp out of a bog std engine with no trouble at all
with a bit more time we should get to 250 stock internals and turbo
we are also halfway through developing a kit for the VW audi family of cars to allow fitment of their engines into the rear of the std golf ibiza etc etc
this will mean we have VW audi engines and the possibility of fitting those to minis as well as the v tecs and volvos
lastly my diesel turbo mini grass track racer has won plenty of races this last year up against big power bike engied mini either in single engine format or twin engine format
diesel mini on the road would be fantastic
quiet fast and economical
i reckon you would do 70 mpg in a car weighing 600 kilos verses a stock car at 1200 kilos
and it wouldnt be slow by any means

I love the Derv lumps, (I have a 330D as my daily drive). The wife had a Fabia VRS chipped to 180 great car but the handling was compromised by the heavy lump, however with the engine in the back I presume it would be an advantage...?

The Volvo Zcars kit is the conversion I want to do. VTECS are so expensive, and the Volvo kit comes with an exhaust which saves a packet too.
While researching engines I came across this page, might be useful, lists models the engine has been in. Scroll down to Engine name: B4194T

http://www.nuceng.ca...ase/engines.htm

Hope that helps.

By the way, Neil can I ask where you are? Would love to come and have a look at the kit if at all possible?

Thanks

Ben

I am driving a VW Caddy 1.9 with a turbo-mod, 200hp/405NM. The only drawback is the weight of the (diesel)engines. A VW 1.8 VT with a small turbo-upgrade would produce 280-300HP with the OEM ECU. The stock internals can handle 320HP.
